THE STATE OF VETERAN PRESENCE
(01/20/08)

For the two of you reading, we aren’t done yet… well assuming I shake enough couch cushions to renew the domain.

A little more than a year ago, my Dad died. 2007 never got better. It took me awhile to even kinda want to write anything and most of the time, I kept thinking about how I just wanted to write about my Dad and how much I missed him. I got through the Baseball Preview mostly thanks to Ed and Bill doing the heavy lifting but it sucked the remaining soul out of me that I had towards fully updating the site.

Bill has been able to convince people to pay him for his writing (you really need to go here daily) so while Ed and I continue to be jealous and mock him, he has moved on leaving on one fewer person to carry the load while the rest of us slacked.

And, apparently, at Ed’s office, since he is the only one who doesn’t breath with his mouth open, that means he has to do all the work. So his time to focus on being funny about stupid sports was limited. He gamely tried to carry on with at least the WTW but the rest of us didn’t care. The football preview got started but after the usual jokes were expended our MS Paints went cold.

It’s a new year and I am feeling the urge to do something with my miserable existence. The Mitchell Report reawakened a ton of names that you might see as FPOTMs. It’s about time for me to churn out some of the simple NY fandom pieces that I never actually wrote and for some reason baseball time seems to energize me. (Well it helps that the Giants haven’t made me cry yet.) Ed and I are going to start getting things rolling again. I will rummage through the unpublished stuff to see if we regret not actually  publishing it. (I have sprinkled some of the football preview throughout this. PADDING~!)

So please keep checking out the site and laugh at the Eastern European bloc message board hackers.
